Malachite

Malachite is a wonderful ornamental gem because of its distinctive banded green pattern. It is best used in jewelry in small sizes since it is a very heavy gem material. Also, since malachite is soft and can be scratched easily, it should be worn in protective settings that help to deflect accidental blows to the gem's surface. Even though malachite is an inexpensive gem material, synthetic malachite has been produced and is in the marketplace. So buy from a knowledgeable jeweler who will guarantee that the malachite they sell is natural.
